March 1984. A stay at Broughton Castle was one of the highlights of the three-day visit to London by Akihito, the future Emperor of Japan and his family. Akihito's son, Prince Naruhito, was then studying at Merton College in Oxford and is pictured above with members of the Fiennes family.
